Amy's podcast art of a sunrise with the words Feel supported, get inspired, be understood

Where to find my podcast

Laugh, cry, and shout with us as we talk all things endometriosis

My podcast has 2 types of episodes:

  1. Chats between Amy and Brittany, 2 best friends that pride ourselves on sharing accurate, well-researched information in a fun, digestible way. Hang out with us while we delve into embarrassing did-that-really-just-happen?! endometriosis stories and talk vulnerably about our personal growth. Some of our favorite episodes are the later ones – we really love how our knowledge, and also we, have grown over time!
    • A compliment we hear often is “Listening to you feels like I’m hanging out with friends that support me”.
  2. Amy leads amazing interviews with renowned excision surgeons, subject experts, and endometriosis advocates worldwide!
    • Excision surgery and other treatment options
    • Menopause and HRT/MHT
    • PFT
    • Nervous system regulation
    • Experiences of people with endo worldwide

My podcast is a platform for different voices and viewpoints, but each person’s opinions are their own. Their appearance on my podcast doesn’t mean I’m endorsing them or their viewpoints. And remember, even when guests are doctors, nothing on this podcast constitutes medical advice! See my full disclaimer here.

Important note on being inclusive

Endometriosis affects people of all genders and sexes, including cis-women, nonbinary people, trans people, gender non-conforming people, intersex people, and cis-men. Unfortunately, when we began our podcast, we were not yet aware of this, and in a few of our earliest episodes, we referred to women with endometriosis. (Mainly episodes 7, 15, and 16 – these episodes now have a content warning on them for gendered language.) Once we learned that endometriosis is not a woman’s disease, we changed to inclusive language and have been actively working to continuing educating ourselves further on this.

I welcome all people of all gender identities and expressions here. Including all people with endometriosis in conversations about the disease is vital because it’s important to have a safe and inclusive space when talking about endometriosis, which can help people feel seen as well as access medical care.

Amy (she/her)

👋I’m Amy. I have endo, MCAS, and SIBO.

🗓I’m 40 years old, got diagnosed at 33, got my first symptoms at 17, and have been an endo advocate for 5 years.

🇪🇸🇯🇵🇪🇨I taught English abroad for 10 years: 5 in Spain, 4 in Japan, and 1 in Ecuador.

🏠When I moved back to the US at 30 after a messy overseas divorce, I had few possessions. I got almost everything I own through clothing swaps, free items online, and asking coworkers. As a result, nothing in my apartment matches, but I don’t mind, because I have everything I need and I feel safe and comfortable here.

🖥I can’t watch anything scary on TV or I’ll have nightmares.

👃My fav smell is jasmine but scents make me sick due to MCAS so I haven’t smelled it in a long time. Aromatherapy isn’t for me😅

🐈My cats walk outside on a leash and are famous in our neighborhood.

🧐I have a problem where I can’t recognize faces well. This makes it hard to watch movies, so when they change scenes, I no longer know who is who so I have to put the audio description on for a minute to hear who is in the scene.

🌱I’m in a much better place now than I was in my twenties. I struggled with how to take care of myself, felt unsafe in my body because almost everything triggered a flare, unhealthy coping mechanisms, toxic relationships, no boundaries, and lost many amazing friends because I just didn’t have the space to care for other people at that time. I’ve seen a lot of personal growth in the last decade and I’m really proud of that.

Headshot of Brittany. She is white, and has blue-grey eyes and brown hair. She is smiling and looks friendly. She has a nosering and a purple blouse

Brittany (she/they)

👋I’m Brittany. I have Celiac disease, generalized anxiety disorder, gastritis, and I suspect I have histamine intolerance and adeno.

🗓I’m 35 years old, got my first symptoms at 9, and have been learning self-management strategies with my anxiety for over 2 decades.

🇬🇧I studied abroad in the UK for a semester and loved the ancient things like Hadrian’s Wall, Stonehenge, and the Cairns in Scotland.

🏠I spent a year traveling around the US, working remotely and renting rooms for 2 months at a time in different cities and exploring the national parks in the area! I explored Washington, Oregon, Northern California, and Southern California. I hope to spend time in AZ, CO, UT, and NM this way too at some point in the future!

🖥I love horror movies, especially psychological thrillers!

👃My fav smell is herbaceous, earthy, and botanical but NOT floral.

🐕My pitbull rescue is my baby! I’ve also had a lot of fun fostering puppies but my oh my, it’s a lot of work to potty train them!

🥖It’s my dream to open a bakery, and I’m exploring different bread recipes: flaky sea salt, herbs de provence, cherry tomato and basil, and caramelized onions and rosemary.

🌱It’s a slow and often emotionally painful process to crack open who I thought I was and discover who I really am underneath the labels I’ve put on myself. But it’s also a beautiful process and I truly love who I am becoming. Most importantly, I’m practicing meeting all of myself with acceptance, even the parts of me that I’d like to change or see personal growth in.
